The Rookies of the Year award is back in 2023 offering many categories from which to choose and yes, the Game Developer remains for another year!
The prizes are pretty close between the winner and the runner-up and they are mostly subscriptions from the sponsors and a piece of hardware… whilst last year we had a very expensive laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad P1), this year the two crowned will be rewarded with a Wacom Intuos Pro Small (Around £180 ) … hard times .
…I always think that It deserves a try, as the big prize is always a good new entry in your portfolio and the opportunity to get visibility in front of the numerous sponsors who support the award. Good Luck!

Contest Rules
This category is for digital artists that love to create content for computer-generated games. This category is targeted towards artists creating 3D content for games, using engines to push their creations to the next level. Show how your animation loops make a game scary, how your lighting dynamically changes the mood of a scene, how your code can handle AI crowds and even how your models are perfect for high frame rates. There are many disciplines in this field and the judges will be reviewing all of them equally, with the goal of finding the artist that they would love to have to work on their next game.
